My pressure cooker lid gave up and dinner turned into a science experiment

Last Tuesday I was making a cheap lentil stew, the kind that's supposed to feed me for three days on like $12. The lid on my old pressure cooker just wouldn't seal, no matter how I twisted it, so I gave up and tried to boil it on the stove instead. Two hours later the lentils were still crunchy and the kitchen smelled like burnt onions, plus my electric bill probably took a hit for no reason. I ended up ordering takeout that cost more than the whole stew would have, which felt like a kick in the gut. Has anyone found a decent budget pressure cooker that actually holds up, or should I just stick to slow cooking everything?
