Never thought I'd say this, but I ditched the spiral wrap for good
I used to think spiral wrap was the only way to keep my cables tidy. Then my buddy over at the repair shop in Austin showed me that it actually traps heat and makes stress points worse near the connectors. He measured a 15 degree temp bump on an HDMI cable under load, that was the stat that got me. Now I just use velcro ties loose and my cables have lasted way longer. Has anyone else noticed their cables failing faster with tight wraps?

A guy at Micro Center told me tight wraps crack the copper inside over time.
