Just saw the before photo of my rental kitchen and wow

I moved into this place in March and the cabinets were gross, sticky grease all over and one door held on with duct tape. Spent maybe $60 on degreaser, sandpaper, and a cheap paint kit from the hardware store over three weekends. Painted them a flat gray and swapped the knobs for ones I found at a salvage place for $4 total. The difference is so stark my neighbor asked if I hired someone, and I laughed because my only tool was a $10 orbital sander I borrowed. Anyone else shocked by how much paint can hide in a rental without the landlord noticing?

Wait, one cabinet door was hanging on by duct tape? That's wild. I would have just assumed the whole thing was beyond saving at that point. And you got four salvage knobs for a buck each, that's a steal. My old place had cabinets painted this weird yellow that peeled if you looked at them wrong, so I'm jealous yours actually turned out.
