That one Friday at the Henderson job where the mortar just felt right

I was laying brick on a retaining wall for a new subdivision and every single trowel strike landed smooth like butter for a solid 8 hours and I still don't know what I did different, has anyone else had a random perfect day on the trowel that they can't explain?

Oh man, that feeling is the best! lmao I had a day like that once on a chimney rebuild where the mix was just perfect and my wrist was in some kind of groove. Every joint I struck came out clean and sharp, no wiping or fussing. I swear I didn't change a thing about my water or sand ratio, it just all clicked. Makes you want to chase that high again but you never know how to get back there lol.

Hell yeah, that's the dream right there! I had a day like that once on a garden wall and I was so locked in I actually stopped to check if my trowel had been replaced by some magic wand when I wasn't looking. Then the next morning I showed up and couldn't keep a single joint straight to save my life, looked like a drunk toddler did it. Made me wonder if the universe just gives you one freebie a year and then laughs at you for thinking you're good.
