Just got back from the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix and I am tired of people saying cacti are boring
Stood under a 30 foot saguaro that was probably older than my grandpa and saw more flowers and wildlife in one hour than I have in a year of looking at leafy plants back home - why do we sleep on desert botany?

I get it, saguaros are cool and all but calling other plants "leafy" like they're boring is kind of missing the point. Desert botany is awesome in its own way but I think people get tired of hearing about how "tough" and "minimalist" cacti are. It starts to feel like the same conversation over and over. Plus a lot of desert plants look dead half the year, let's be real. I'd take a lush fern or a giant flowering magnolia over a spiky stick any day.
