Finally got my peace lily to bloom after 2 years of trying
I have this peace lily that my grandma gave me when I moved into my first apartment back in 2019. For two solid years it just sat there looking green but never put out a single flower. I tried moving it around the house, different water schedules, even talked to it like a weirdo. Nothing worked. Then my neighbor Dorothy who runs a little plant stand by the bus stop told me to try bottom watering with filtered water instead of tap. She said the chlorine in tap water builds up and messes with their hormones or something. Three weeks after I switched to letting it soak up water from a saucer for 15 minutes each Saturday, I spotted a little white bud poking out. Now I've got three blooms and I swear the leaves look darker green too. Has anyone else had luck with switching water sources for stubborn houseplants?

Oh yeah I started using aquarium water on my ferns and they went nuts. Just be careful not to overdo the bottom watering though.

Wait is overwatering aquarium plants really that big of a deal though?
