The librarian who taught me about endpapers
An old librarian in Portland showed me how to match endpapers to the book's era after I picked the wrong pattern on a rebind. She said 'vinyl clouds belong in 1970s novels, not 1800s poetry' and handed me a sample of marbled paper. Anyone else ever get schooled by someone who just knew better?

Geez, that librarian sounds like a real OG. I messed up a book rebind once and my guy just shook his head and handed me a piece of proper cloth. Sometimes you gotta get schooled by the old pros.

...I mean, is it really that serious though? Books get banged up all the time and people still read them just fine. Feels like some of these old school guys just like making a big deal out of nothing.
