Parchment instead of wax paper saved my spine linings

I saw a bunch of folks on here swearing by freezer paper for glue transfer. Tried it on a batch of 5 books last week and every single one had the paper stick in spots. Switched to basic parchment from the grocery store for $3.50 and it peeled off perfectly every time. I think the silicone coating on parchment is way more consistent than whatever they put on freezer paper. Has anyone else had this issue or did I just get a bad roll of the stuff?

Wait, you got freezer paper to stick too? I thought I was the only one! I tried it on three books and the paper ripped off in little bits, leaving this sticky residue that made the spine lining all bumpy and gross. The parchment paper is a total game changer for me too. I grabbed a big roll at the dollar store for like two bucks and it works perfectly, no sticking at all. I honestly think freezer paper is just not meant for this kind of thing, the coating feels different somehow.

Oh MAN, I was totally Team Freezer Paper for like a year before this! I thought I had it figured out and everyone else was just doing it wrong. But you're right, that sticky residue is NASTY and it legit ruined two of my favorite cookbooks. I had this one book where the paper left this weird waxy film and now the cover has this permanent shiny patch that catches the light all wrong. Your explanation about the coating makes so much sense, I never thought about it that way. I'm definitely switching to parchment paper on my next project, thanks for sharing this!
