Tried the slow character reveal approach in my book club last week

We read The Silent Patient and I wanted to let everyone form their own theories before sharing mine. Big mistake. People got so frustrated with me holding back. One lady said I was 'sabotaging the discussion.' Felt like I ruined the whole meeting. Learned that people want you to jump in early with your takes. How do you handle timing for sharing your opinions in club debates?

Have you tried asking pointed questions at the start instead of giving your full take? I ran into the same issue with my group and now I toss out one specific theory early just to get the ball rolling, then save the deeper stuff for later.

Yeah that's exactly what I do now, one quick theory upfront just to break the ice.
