My book club buddy told me to stop skipping the author's notes and she was totally right
Been in a book club in Portland for about 2 years now and I always skipped the author's notes at the end. Last month my friend Jen called me out on it after a meeting where I complained the ending felt rushed. She made me go back and read the notes on our current book, a mystery novel set in a small town. Turns out the author explained a whole subplot about a missing key that I completely missed. Has anyone else found hidden clues or explanations buried in those notes?

For real, the author's notes are like bonus content before that was a thing. I found out the killer's motive in one book was actually hidden in a footnote about their childhood pet. Now I read every single note at the end before I even decide if I liked the book.

My buddy Dave missed a whole twist in a thriller because he skipped the author's note where they straight-up said, "Pay attention to the dog's name." Now he reads them religiously.
