Had a book club member try to argue that audiobooks don’t count as reading

It was at our meeting last month at Jen’s place in Austin. Phil kept pushing that if you haven’t physically held the book, you’re not really engaging with it. I pointed out I listen during my fence installs and still remember specific quotes from chapter 6. He doubled down, so I challenged him to a quiz on the book we all just finished. He missed 4 questions, I got them all right. Has anyone else had to defend audiobooks in their group?

Phil sounds like the guy who thinks vinyl records sound better because they're "warmer." Bet he also says movies don't count if you watch them on a tablet. Good on you for proving the real test is comprehension, not page touching. Maybe next meeting Phil can just hold the book for everyone while we actually enjoy the story.
