Our shop switched from stick to wire on the tube welds and cut rework from 22% to 4% in 3 months
I fought this change hard because I was sure wire would just lay there and look pretty without biting in, but the before and after on our x-rays does not lie. We ran the same 2 inch schedule 80 headers in Houston and the defect rate fell off a cliff once everybody quit dragging rods uphill. Anyone else made the switch and had it stick, or did your crew go back to stick?
