I finally tried a magnetic drill press for a tie-in job and now I get it

Been putting off buying one for years, figured a regular drill and a steady hand was fine. Last month we had to punch 30 holes in a 1 inch plate for a header tie-in over in Gary, and after the third bit walked and snapped, my foreman handed me his mag drill. Night and day difference. I mean, I still think they're pricey, a decent one runs close to 600 bucks, but the clean holes and not fighting the drill makes up for it. Has anyone else held out on a tool for years and then felt dumb after using it once?
