Hot take: flux-core on pipe is better than I thought.

Spent years hating on flux-core. Stuck to stick for all my field pipe welds. Then an old timer in Houston showed me his vertical up weld on 6 inch schedule 80. Who else switched and never looked back?

That "old timer in Houston" bit hit home. Buddy of mine swore by stick for years too. Tried flux-core on a repair job last month. Said it made the overhead pass look like a damn machine did it. Less spatter, way easier to see your puddle. He's been texting me pics of his beads ever since.
