Finally passed my pressure vessel weld test after 3 failed attempts

Third time was the charm this morning at the union hall in Cincinnati. First two tries I kept getting porosity near the root pass, was about ready to hang it up. My buddy Carl told me to slow down my travel speed and watch the puddle more, not just the arc. Something finally clicked and the x-ray came back clean. That $35 test fee felt like a jackpot when the inspector gave me the thumbs up. Anyone else had a weld test that took way more tries than you expected?
