Unpopular opinion: I see too many people storing games flat and it's killing the boxes
I was helping a friend sort his collection last weekend and found his copy of Scythe with a totally crushed lid. He kept it stacked under three other heavy games for about a year. The weight warps the lids and splits the corners. I've seen this happen to my own copy of Terraforming Mars and a friend's Gloomhaven box. It's a slow damage you don't notice until it's too late. Always store them upright, like books. Has anyone else had a favorite game box get wrecked from stacking?

Wait... you stacked Gloomhaven flat? That box is basically a cinderblock. I can't even lift mine with one hand. The thought of putting anything on top of it, let alone it being the bottom of a stack, makes my back hurt just thinking about it. No wonder the corners split.

Remember my friend who tried to move his copy? He put it flat on a cheap IKEA shelf, then stacked his whole Pandemic Legacy season on top. A week later we heard this loud crack from his game room. The shelf had actually bowed in the middle, like a sad smile. The Gloomhaven box was fine, of course, but it murdered the furniture.

Yeah @pipera50, I treat that box like a piece of furniture. It's holding up my whole shelf.
