Trying to sort my game shelf by weight rating took me a whole weekend
I decided to put my games in order from light to heavy using the BGG complexity scores. The problem was my old copy of Arkham Horror 2nd edition, which doesn't have an official weight listed. I spent maybe 8 hours over Saturday and Sunday cross-referencing forum posts, old reviews, and my own notes to pin down a number I was happy with. It felt silly, but I just couldn't let it go. Has anyone else gotten stuck on a tiny detail like that for way too long?

Spending a whole weekend on that sounds completely reasonable to me. Getting the order right matters if you actually use the system to pick games. A wrong number throws off the whole shelf. That deep dive into old forums is just good research. It is not silly at all, it is how you build a collection that works for you. The time spent makes sure your system is accurate for the long term.

Wasn't there a whole article about how organizing stuff can actually help you enjoy it more? I read something like that... it said the time you put into setting up a system isn't wasted if it makes using your things easier later. So @hunt.rowan is totally right about the long term part. Getting the numbers wrong would bug me every single time I looked at the shelf, and then I just wouldn't trust my own list. That weekend of digging is what makes the system actually work for picking a game instead of just looking nice.
