The 6-hour rulebook rabbit hole that stalled our game night
Tbh, I thought learning a new board game would take like 20 minutes. Last Friday my group pulled out a heavy euro game I bought months ago, and we spent 6 hours just figuring out the rulebook. We kept flipping pages and arguing about turn order and token limits. The worst part was the setup diagram, it missed two key pieces that only showed up in a FAQ online. After that marathon, we only played one actual round before everyone had to leave. Has anyone else had a rulebook that totally killed your momentum? How do you prep for complex games without wasting a whole night?

Six hours of rules means you got six hours of entertainment before the game even started, which is more than most nights give you. Sounds like the real problem was your group lacking the patience to actually enjoy figuring it out.
