That time I used a sticky note to track whose turn it was in a 6-player game
We kept losing track of who was after who in a 6-player game of Settlers of Catan last weekend, so I grabbed a sticky note, wrote down the turn order clockwise, and passed it around each time - worked way better than anyone expecting everyone to remember on their own, has anyone else tried a simple trick like that for keeping big groups on track?

Nah, that feels like overcomplicating something simple. Half the fun of a 6-player game is the chaos of forgetting turns and people yelling at each other. If you really need a crutch, just point at the person on your left and say "you're after me.

My group tried the "pointing" method once and it actually made things worse, not better. We had 6 people at the table and by round 3 nobody could remember who pointed at who. It turned into this big argument about whether Dave pointed at Sarah or the other way around. Plus some people got salty feeling like they were being "managed" by the pointer person. I'd rather have a simple visual aid like a turn tracker card or a little token that passes around. Sure the chaos is fun sometimes but when someone misses their turn three times in a row it kills the momentum. For me keeping the game moving is way more important than preserving some idealized version of messy fun.
