Question about hitting 200 logged plays on my shelf and still feeling like a rookie
I started tracking my plays on BoardGameGeek about 3 years ago and just crossed 200 total logged sessions last week. When that number popped up I actually sat back and laughed because I still fumble through rulebooks every single time. The funny part is 40 of those plays are just one light card game I keep bringing to my Tuesday group in Sacramento. I used to swear tracking plays was pointless navel gazing and now I check the log after every session. What convinced me was seeing that 12 of my top 20 games had fewer than 3 plays, which meant I was buying way faster than playing. Anyone else look at their logged numbers and get a weird gut punch about their shelf?

Man that 12 out of 20 stat is a knife to the gut, I went and checked mine after reading this and it was somehow worse. Half my shelf has one or two plays and then there is that one deckbuilder I have dragged to game night like 30 times because it is easy to teach when nobody wants to learn rules. The tracking thing got me too, I used to think it was silly and now I log every single game like it is a doctor's note. The real punch comes when you look at the money spent per play on some of those dusty boxes. I still buy new stuff anyway so maybe I have learned nothing.
