A guy at the game store told me I was playing Catan wrong for years

I was at The Dragon's Hoard in Springfield, setting up a 4-player game. This guy, maybe in his 40s, leaned over and said, 'You're putting your starting settlements on the wrong hexes, you'll never win like that.' He pointed at my spots near the 6 and 8. I told him my way worked fine for my group and we liked the faster games. He just shook his head and walked off. Has anyone else had someone try to 'correct' your fun?

Your way works for your group, that's all that matters. Some people forget games are supposed to be fun.

Fun is subjective, and ignoring game rules ruins the experience for everyone else.
