Saw a guy at the Harrisonburg farmers market forge a hook from a railroad spike in 20 minutes, and it got me thinking about demos
Last Saturday I was at the Harrisonburg farmers market and a smith had set up a small propane forge right there on the pavement. He took a rusty railroad spike and had a usable hook in about 20 minutes while people watched. What got me was how many kids stopped and asked questions instead of just walking by. He told me he does 3 or 4 of these a month and it brings in more new students than any flyer ever did. Has anyone here tried doing live demos at events like that, and did it actually bring people into the shop?
