I finally caught my subtitles habit ruining 3 seasons of The Expanse
I used to watch everything with subtitles on, even English shows, because I thought I was catching more detail. But last month I realized I was reading the bottom of the screen the whole time and missing facial expressions and set details that actually mattered. A friend said "you're watching a book, not a show" during our rewatch and it hit me. Now I switch subs off for new stuff but keep them on for dense dialogue like Peaky Blinders. Which side are you on, subs always or only when needed?
Kept subs on for everything honestly and never felt like I was missing anything. Your eyes can do both at once, it's not like reading a novel. Turned them off once and spent the whole episode wondering what the mumbly guy in the back said.
