That "a cartoon for toddlers" thing was me too, my buddy kept saying I had to watch the one with the grannies episode and I rolled my eyes so hard. Then I sat down with my niece and we ran through like eight of them in one sitting. The parents in that show are so real, the dad especially, he's out there just trying to survive the day same as the rest of us. I felt like a jerk for writing it off for so long.
