I ran 60 psi in my rear tire on a gravel ride and finished 20 minutes faster than usual
Tbh I always ran 40 psi because that's what a guy at my local shop in Tucson told me years ago, so when I bumped it up to 60 for a hard packed route last Saturday the bike felt totally different. Ngl I thought lower pressure was always faster on rough stuff, but I guess it depends way more on the surface than I figured. Has anyone else messed with pressure this much and noticed a big gap, or was my 40 psi just way too low the whole time?
Curious what your body weight is and what tire width you're running at that 60 psi. Because 60 in a 40mm sounds harsh as hell but 60 in a 2.1 MTB tire would feel way different. Also what was the hard pack route, like straight up smooth dirt or chunky stuff with some loose over hard. I run around 38-42 on my 45s for mixed gravel but I've never tried jumping that far up at once, sounds like a totally different ride.
