Pro tip: pre-rinse your paper filters or taste the cardboard

Last Tuesday in my kitchen, I brewed a V60 with a fresh bag of beans and got this flat, papery flavor that ruined the whole cup. I checked my grinder setting and water temp, then realized I skipped the filter rinse because I was in a hurry for work. Does anyone else notice a big difference when they forget that step, or am I just sensitive to it?
