Our grinder died mid-week and the backup was a cast iron hand crank from 1970

Last Tuesday I went to grind beans for the morning pot and my Baratza just clicked once and quit. My wife dug out her grandpa's old hand grinder from the garage, the kind that bolts to the counter with rusty wing nuts. It took me 11 minutes to grind enough for two cups and my arms were sore, but honestly the coffee tasted cleaner than anything I've made in months. Has anyone else had a backup piece of gear randomly outperform your daily driver like that?

Slow grinding changes extraction, so try a coarser setting next time, that fixed it for me.
