$40 for a wireless meat thermometer, best money I ever spent on my offset smoker

I got tired of babysitting my Lang 36 for hours on end so I bought one of those ThermoPro twin probe setups for like $40 on Amazon. Honestly I was skeptical because my old wired probe always gave out after a few cooks. But this thing let me actually sit inside and watch football while my brisket chugged along at 250. The wifi range is solid too, I can go out to the garage and it still connects. Only downside is the batteries die faster than I expected, maybe every 5 or 6 cooks. Anyone else switch to wireless and never look back?

Got the same ThermoPro actually, but the batteries last way longer for me. Maybe 12-15 cooks before they die. You might have a dud or the batteries are just cheap ones. I swapped mine for some lithium AAs and it made a big difference. Also make sure you're turning it off after each cook, that's an easy one to forget.

12 cooks in and my ThermoPro batteries are still going strong honestly. I think people forget to hit that power button or leave it sitting on the counter after a long cook and it drains way faster. The lithium AA tip is solid though, I switched to those in my meat probe too and noticed a difference.
