Heard a guy at the laundromat brag about paying $9 for detergent, and I started counting my own dumb buys
Last week I was folding clothes at the Spin City on Route 9 and this guy next to me said he only buys the little 10 load bottles because "the big one goes bad." I didn't say anything but it got me thinking about how many small money leaks I just accept. So I added up my last 3 receipts and found I was paying $1.49 for a single roll of paper towels when the 6 pack at Costco works out to 71 cents each. That is $28 a year just on towels, which sounds small until you stack it next to coffee and bottled water. Now I keep a note on my phone with the per unit price of stuff I buy every week, and it takes me maybe 5 seconds per item at the shelf. Curious if anyone else tracks unit price in their head, or do you just grab whatever is on sale and move on?
