Showerthought: I swore off Windows XP on old laptops until my neighbor pulled one out of his garage in Tucson
I always said putting XP on anything with less than a gig of RAM was a waste of a weekend, mostly because my first try back in 2019 ended in a blue screen loop. Then my neighbor Dave handed me a dusty ThinkPad T40 from his garage in Tucson and said the old drivers on the factory restore disk were the whole trick. Took 40 minutes and it booted clean, and now it's my dedicated machine for running a 1998 copy of RollerCoaster Tycoon. Anyone else keep an XP box alive just for one program they can't let go of?
Thought the same thing until my buddy dug out an old Gateway with the original driver disc and it ran fine. Have not touched my newer laptop since for playing SimCity 2000.
