Why does nobody talk about the time a kid squirmed and you cut his ear?

Had a 7 year old in my chair in Milwaukee who jerked his head right as I went for the sideburn line. I just put a bit of pressure on the nick with a clean towel and kept my cool, finished the cut, and his mom never even noticed. Anyone else have a close call like that and how do you handle it?

Man that's the WORST feeling. Had a guy sneeze once and my clippers jumped. Just a tiny scratch but my heart stopped. You did the right thing staying calm, that's the whole game right there.

Sneezes are the barber's natural enemy... that sudden jerk is pure terror. My own hand twitched once and I nearly gave a guy a sideburn for a unibrow. The real skill is pretending you meant to do it.

I read somewhere that barbers actually train for sneezes, like they practice keeping the hand steady. Makes sense, that split second panic is real.
