Switched from a straight razor to a shavette for my neckline fades about 6 months ago

I was getting too many nicks on the tricky curves behind the ear, so my buddy in Charlotte told me to try a shavette with half a Derby blade. The control is way better and I haven't had a client bleed since. What's your go-to tool for those super tight neckline details?

Switched from a straight razor to a shavette" is the move for real. I saw a barber on YouTube saying the shorter blade length on a shavette gives you way more pivot points for those curves. Makes total sense for getting behind the ear clean.

Wait, so you're saying the shorter blade is actually better for control? I always figured a full straight razor was the real pro move. But that pivot point logic is solid. How's the learning curve compared to a regular straight razor? I'd be worried about nicking myself more with a shorter blade.
