Hit 1000 haircuts today, never thought I'd care that much

I passed 1000 cuts this afternoon with a regular client who's been coming to me since I started at Frank's Barbershop in Denver. Honestly, I used to think milestone numbers were just ego stuff for social media. But when I added it up in my book, I realized it was 1000 times I showed up, sharpened my clippers, and made someone feel better about themselves. That number made me take my chair more seriously, like I'm actually a professional now, not just a guy with scissors. Has anyone else hit a count that changed how they saw the trade?

There’s something about hitting a round number that makes you stop and look back at all the small steps. Most jobs are like that, you do the same thing over and over and it feels like nothing until one day the total just hits you. I see it with my neighbor who teaches piano, she counted her lessons one year and realized she had taught thousands of kids how to focus on something hard. It changes the weight of what you do, even if the work itself is the same as yesterday. A thousand of anything means you showed up through good days, bad days, and all the ordinary ones in between. Your chair is a lot more than a chair now, and that count is proof of it.
