Shoutout to the guy who told me to skip the fancy self-watering pots
I had to pick between those expensive ceramic self-watering planters or basic plastic pots from the garden center. Went with the cheap plastic ones and drilled my own drainage holes. My tomatoes in the 5 gallon buckets produced way more than my friend's did in her $40 self-watering setup. Anyone else find that simple works better up here?

Totally agree that simple works better, like joelsanchez said. My plants always do best in the basic stuff too.

Simple works better" is so true. I was just reading about how even pro chefs use plain metal spatulas instead of fancy ones. No frills stuff just gets the job done right.
