Rant: My balcony zucchini is all bloom and no fruit

I'm considering taking up a new hobby as a pollinator.

That "all bloom and no fruit" thing is the worst. I had the same problem on my patio. Turns out, sometimes bees just don't find your balcony. You literally have to play bee yourself. Get a small paintbrush or a q-tip. Find a male flower, that's the one with just a thin stem. Swirl the brush inside to get pollen. Then find a female flower, it has a tiny baby zucchini behind the bloom. Swirl the brush in there. Did that for a week and suddenly had zucchini coming out of my ears.

Ugh, been there. @dylan_patel is right, the q-tip trick actually works. Then you're drowning in zucchini.

Actually, the male flower has the thin stem, the female has the tiny fruit behind it. You got those mixed up.
