My neighbor Linda told me my basil looked wilted last summer. I got so mad for a whole hour before I actually looked at it. Honestly, it was bone dry and turning brown. It's so hard to hear that kind of stuff even when it's true. Tbh I've learned to just say thanks and go check for myself. Getting defensive just stops you from fixing the actual problem.

Why is it so hard to take advice about stuff we care about? I read this thing about how our brains treat criticism of our projects like a physical threat, it's wild. Makes you just want to argue instead of listen. Your method is smart, just saying thanks buys you time to get over the sting and actually see what's going on. It turns a fight into useful info.
