Googled how much water my pepper plants need and got a shock
I was reading a gardening blog from the University of Florida last night and found out that a single tomato plant needs over 20 gallons of water per season... that's like five times what I've been giving mine! My balcony setup only uses self-watering pots and I've been topping them off weekly. Anyone else ever miscalculate their watering this badly?

The 20-gallon stat for tomatoes honestly threw me too, I used to just water until the soil looked damp and called it good. Now I'm second-guessing everything about my pepper setup after reading that. Idk, maybe I've been underwatering for years without realizing it.

Totally agree, I treated my jalapenos the same way for two summers before realizing they were basically surviving on fumes. Now I'm wondering if my sad little harvests were just me being stingy with the hose this whole time.
