Flowers with veggies on my balcony. Worth it or waste of space?
Setting up my balcony garden. Some say add flowers for looks, others say focus only on veggies. What's your take on decorating a small grow space?

Used to avoid flowers for more veggies. But they attract bees and keep pests away, so now I'm all for it.

Companion planting really does make a difference in a garden. Read that marigolds especially are great for keeping bad bugs off your tomatoes. Makes the whole space work better together.

Tried the all-veggie thing last year and my balcony looked like a sad salad bar that failed its health inspection. Stuck some nasturtiums in with the beans this spring, and honestly, the bees seem happier and so do I when I look out there. The flowers don't take up much room if you pick the right ones, and they make the whole place feel less like a farm project.
