My attempt at a mirror glaze cake for my niece's birthday went spectacularly wrong
Tbh, I followed a YouTube tutorial exactly, but the glaze set way too fast and ended up looking like a lumpy, cracked pond instead of a smooth finish. Honestly, the cake itself was a perfect vanilla sponge, so the whole thing just felt like a huge waste of a good bake. Has anyone else had a mirror glaze disaster and found a way to salvage it, or should I just scrap the idea next time?

So you made a modern art cake?

Modern art cake, yeah that's a good way to put it @butler.tessa. I mean, was it actually tasty or just for looks? I've seen some wild stuff online that's all sharp angles and weird colors, but you can't even cut into it. Like a cake that's just a pile of broken chocolate slabs or something. Idk, maybe it's just me but I want my cake to be cake first, art second.

Honestly, the best ones nail both! A cake can be a total showstopper and still slice up perfectly (and taste amazing). It's just way harder to pull off, which is why the bad ones get all the attention.
