Switched to a scale after my third brick-like loaf and it was a total game changer. Why do recipes even use cups for something that packs down so easily? My starter finally got the consistent food it needed. Felt pretty silly for all the times I cursed my old oven.

Used to think scales were just for fancy bakers until my own dense loaves proved me wrong. I was so sure my kneading was the problem, not the flour. Switching to grams showed me how much a "cup" could change from one scoop to the next. It turns out my starter was the only consistent thing in my whole process.
