I laughed at my dad's 2004 flip phone prediction, and I owe him $20 now
He bet me back in 2019 that people would get sick of giant screens and big phones would come back, and last week at his kitchen table in Boise I handed him a twenty because my new phone is smaller than the one I had 4 years ago.
Man, this hits home. My kid laughed at me in 2020 when I said the big phone thing was just a phase and folks would want something they can actually hold again. I still had my old small phone in a drawer and pulled it out to prove my point, and he rolled his eyes so hard I thought they'd get stuck. Fast forward to now and he's the one complaining his phone won't fit in his jeans pocket without sticking half way out. I didn't get twenty bucks out of it but I did get to say I told you so at Thanksgiving, which was almost as good. Funny how these things go in circles, right?
