Lost $210 on a 'complete' retro console bundle off a swap meet table in Tucson
I finally got my game room shelf built after 3 weekends of work, so I treated myself to a retro console bundle at the Tucson swap meet. The guy wanted $210 cash and told me everything was tested and working, and I handed it over without plugging anything in. Got home to find the power brick was for a different model entirely and two of the four controllers had corrosion bad enough to smell. I am not even mad about the money, I am mad that I skipped the one rule I have followed for 15 years of buying used gear. What is your go to test before you hand over cash at a swap meet?
