Am I the only one who thinks the "cloud" is just someone else's computer with worse loading times?
I finally got fed up with my photo editing app taking forever to sync files to their servers, so last week I tried this old school trick. I just kept all my raw images on a local external SSD instead of letting the software auto upload them to the cloud. The thing that blew my mind was how much faster everything ran. I was waiting 45 seconds for a file to open before, now it loads in about 3. It makes me wonder why everyone pushes cloud storage so hard when my $60 drive at home works better. Has anyone else tried going back to local storage and seen a huge speed bump?
