Wish I listened to my buddy about The Room screening last month

My friend Mark kept telling me to watch The Room with a group not alone. I laughed it off and watched it by myself. 45 minutes in I was just confused and bored, no fun at all. Then I dragged three friends to a midnight showing last week and it was a total blast with everyone yelling at the screen. Has anyone else had a bad movie totally flop when you watched it solo?

Totally did that with Showgirls. Alone it's just sad.

Watching it alone really does strip away the protection of having someone else there to laugh with you. The shared embarrassment is half the fun of those kinds of movies. By yourself it's just you sitting there realizing how uncomfortable and tragic the whole thing actually is. There's no buffer for the secondhand cringe or the weirdly depressing parts.
