Why does nobody talk about the 90 minute rule for bad movie picks?
Used to let everyone take turns choosing whatever they wanted. That led to too many 2 hour plus snoozers where half the group checked out by minute 45. Switched to a hard 90 minute cutoff after a brutal viewing of a 2 hour 40 minute CGI mess last month in Denver. Now we only pick flicks that fit that length, and we get like three movies in a single sitting with better energy. Anyone else run a time limit or do you just power through anything?

The "hard 90 minute cutoff" thing really does show up everywhere once you start noticing it. It's like how restaurants figured out that a shorter menu with fewer, better dishes beats a giant menu where half the stuff sits in the freezer. Or how meetings magically fill whatever time you give them, so you cap them at 30 minutes and somehow get the same work done. Same deal with your movie nights: the limit forces people to actually pick something good instead of just grabbing whatever. My group does something close to this, we cap it at 100 minutes and the vibe is way better. Your mileage may vary depending on the group, but in my experience limits make people more creative, not less.
