Thought I had the perfect bad movie formula, then a friend brought over a movie with no plot at all and it wrecked my whole system
For about a year I ran bad movie night every other Friday and I had it down to a science: pick something with bad acting but a real story, so people could follow along while they laughed. Then two weeks ago my buddy Marcus showed up with a burned DVD of a movie called Things, which is just 85 minutes of people wandering around a house in Ontario with zero story. I fully expected everyone to check out, but the room was louder and more into it than any night we have ever had. Turns out the movies with actual plots let people sit back and watch, but the ones with nothing happening force everyone to start yelling at the screen and making up their own story together. So now I am rethinking my whole shelf. Does anyone else find that the plotless stuff gets a better crowd reaction than the so bad its good classics?
