My neighbor laughed at my $6 rubber stall mat, but my hens haven't had bumblefoot since March
I picked up a 4x6 rubber stall mat from the feed store in Springfield for $6 back in March because my run was turning into a mud pit after every rain and I was pulling hens out with crusty feet. My neighbor who has kept birds for 20 years said it was a waste of money and the mud never hurt anybody, but I laid it anyway under the waterer and feeder where it got worst. Has anyone else tried mats in the run, or do you just move the whole setup to dry ground when the season turns?
