A guy on the trail told me my pack was riding too low and it changed everything
I always thought my backpack felt fine until some random hiker near Mammoth Lakes pointed out my hip belt was sitting on my hips wrong. He said I needed to tighten the load lifters so the weight sits higher on my shoulders. I tried it on the next climb and my lower back didn't hurt for the first time in months. Anyone else had a random stranger give advice that actually worked?
Oh man, I gotta disagree a bit here. Idk, for me having the weight higher on my shoulders always makes my neck and traps super tight after a few miles. Maybe it's just my body type but I've had way better luck keeping the hip belt snug and letting most of the weight ride on my hips instead.
Huh, that's a lot of tweaking for a pack that already felt fine. I mean @sagey69, if it aint broke don't fix it, right? Honestly I bet half the "advice" out there is just people needing to feel useful on the trail.
