Spent 2 hours chasing a squawk in a 172 that turned out to be my own test lead
Was doing a pitot static check on a 172 last Tuesday and kept getting a weird fluctuation on the airspeed indicator. I swapped the instrument, checked the lines, even pulled the static system apart looking for a leak. Turned out my pitot test adapter hose had a pinhole in it from sitting in the sun on the ramp all summer. Felt like an idiot but also kind of relieved it was a $12 hose and not a bad instrument. Anyone else got a story where the test gear was the problem, not the plane?
