Why does nobody talk about losing paper service manuals?

My dad and I were cleaning out his old garage last weekend, and we found a stack of service manuals from the 90s. It got me thinking, you know? Back then, you could fix most things with just those books and some tools. Now, everything needs a computer hookup. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I miss the simplicity of it. What happens when all this digital stuff fails?

Grieve the loss of real ownership that came with those paper manuals.

My buddy Mike had the full 300-page service manual for his '87 Bronco. He spilled coffee on it last year and spent two weeks carefully drying each page with a hair dryer, terrified of losing the wiring diagrams.

Scanning our old manuals helped me cope with that loss of real ownership!
